Spencer, a Chihuahua with severe human-directed aggression, arrived anxious, neurotic, and deeply mistrustful. He saw everyone outside his family as a potential threat, making walks stressful and visits from others impossible. His human aggression far outweighed his dog aggression, suggesting he may have experienced past trauma.
During his residential programme, we worked patiently to help him feel safe, build confidence, and learn to trust people again. One of the biggest breakthroughs was introducing play — a skill that took time and effort, but ultimately transformed his emotional state.
Spencer has now returned home happier and more secure, able to navigate the world with confidence. His family can have visitors over, give him off-lead time, and he even enjoys playing with some dogs now!
